Pavlova High
Hi and welcome to the Boarding House! The Boarding House aims to let students grow up in a free environment. They choose what their living area looks like and feels like so that they can grow up in the environment of their choice.

The Boarding House

Bedrooms
About 100 students sleep at the Boarding House so we try to keep the facilities there updated. There are 4 large bedrooms which are already furnished with a queen size bed, a desk with drawers, a computer, and a small wardrobe for each student. There is an average of 25 students per room. There is also a TV in every bedroom with 25 headphones so that any student wanting to sleep or study without the distraction of TV can do so. Students can bring any items from home that they wish, the only rules are no smoking, drinking or drugs in the boarding house. For maximum privacy there is a opaque curtain that can be drawn around your living area if you wish to get changed, write in a diary, or any other private activity. The curfew if it is a school day is lights out by 10.00 unless they have a reasonable excuse or had an early night the night before. Each Bedroom has a seperate name and has other special features. If you choose to board here an extra $2300 will be added to your school fees. Please note that this cost includes food, stay and house maintanence and is a fairly reasonable price.

Frances

Frances is the bedroom at the back in the centre. It has the best view of all the rooms because it looks out onto the ocean. It has a bay window which is good for studing, reading, or simply relaxing. It is named after one of the creators of the school, Frances Vinall.
Wilson
Wilson is situated on the left side of the house. It has a bathroom that it only shares with Frances. Wilson is also the closest room to the lounge room. The key to the school-owned skate park is in Wilson and boarders in that room are able to access the skate park at any hour of the day and/or night. It is named after another one of the creators, Amy Wilson.
Graves
Graves is the closest bedroom to the front of the house, it is also the largest and keeps slightly more people than the other rooms. It also has more space for each student. Graves is named after the third creator of the school, Lucas Graves.

The Lounge Room

The Lounge Room is where boarders find their entertainment. It features a widescreen TV/DVD player with surround sound. A range of DVD's are already at the boarding house which boarders can play at any time and any DVD's that boarders have brought from home can also be used with the boarder's permision. To stop arguments over what to watch, whoever is watching the DVD can vote on which one to watch if there is an argument.

As well as any the boarders bring from home. Unelectronic entertainment is also found. There are three large bookshelves filled with a varying range of books, with Science Fiction, Fantasy, Non-Fiction, Romance, Crime and True Fiction. There is also a magazine rack with the latest issues of Dolly, Smash Hits, Girlfriend and the weekly newspaper. There are also jigsaw puzzles to do, most of them 1000 pieces. There are several jigsaw boards and groups can work on a puzzle as well as singular people. People can also take puzzles to their rooms as long as their group agrees. There are a variety of games to play as well, like
Cluedo
Monopoly
Pictionary
Snakes and Ladders
Connect Four
Dominoes
Rummiking
Scrabble
Checkers
We use comfortable lounges and chairs with enough for everybody and have a plush floor so if the boarders want to lie or sit on the floor they will have comfort. There is plenty of room in the lounge room as this is one of the main rooms in the house.

Bathrooms
In the boarding house there are two bathrooms, a large one and a small one. The large bathroom is used by three bedrooms, (Frances, Graves and Third) the small one is only used by two,(Frances and Wilson.)
The Large Bathroom has 75 walk-in toilets that are regulary cleaned, 10 baths with a draw-around curtain for each, and 65 showers with a draw-around curtain for each. There is shampoo, conditioner and body scrub in each shower and bath but in the intrests of hygiene we ask that you bring your own soap and/or body washer. In all toilet cubicles air fresheners are used and are reguarly refreshed. In the small bathroom there are 30 walk-in toilets 6 baths, and 40 showers. The same appliances are used as in the large bathroom.

The Kitchen
The kitchen is where the food is cooked and often where it is eaten. Balanced meals are given to all boarders with a main meal, drinks and dessert. Naturally the boarders don't have to have dessert, but if they don't finish their main meal they can't have dessert (excuse the mothering). Meals are different each night, for example one night they may have pasta and vegies, they next they might have tacos. Boarders can cook their own meals if they feel so inclined, as long as they are known as a reasonably safe cook and they have permission. On birthday's there will be a cake and the birthday boy/girl will be taken out for dinner with a few friends. On weekends lunch is provided, but boarders are free to come and go as they please. For breakfast there is a choice of toast or cereal, occasionally there are treats like croissants or hash browns, but they are not the usual breakfast. Special needs are taken care of, such as vegetarians and any allergic people.

Outside
There are many outside entertainments as well. A large yard with soccer nets provides active entertainment. Of course that isn't the only thing that the field could be used for. There is also a trampoline. The limit for the number of people on the trampoline is 2, but the second person on the trampoline must have the 1st's permission. There is also a picnic-style area with trees, benches and tables. If boarders feel like a hot outdoor meal there are barbeques as well. Near the trees is a couple of swingseats which boarders can use. Of course boarders can use all of the school facilities at any time during the day or night.
